The HYPERION Series is the cumulation of more than 25 years experience in FT-IR microanalysis. Significant improvements in the design of the optics, mechanics and electronics provide a very stable and reliable system for routine laboratory work and even the most demanding R&D investigations. Featuring full automation, infrared chemical imaging, crystal-clear sample viewing and a wide variety of IR and visible objectives, the HYPERION provides you with everything needed to conduct the most sensitive microanalysis easily and efficiently.

 

The HYPERION Series infrared microscopes offers state-of-the-art optical microscopy capabilities, which include contrast enhancement with aperture stops, visible polarization, darkfield illumination, and fluorescence illumination. The infrared performance of the HYPERION is unmatched. The HYPERION microscope was designed to maximize infrared throughput without sacrificing diffraction limited performance. This translates to shorter collection times with the highest quality data possible.

 

We have designed all our optical components and objectives with the goal of maintaining optical performance while providing previously unattainable infrared performance. Our proprietary ATR objective design allows crystal clear viewing of the sample without sacrificing infrared throughput. The anvil shaped ATR crystal with an 100 micron contact area allows you to target only the area of interest without sacrificing performance. You can even use the aperture to get down to 20x20 microns or less with the ATR objective! Unique desin incorporates pressure sensor to allow ATR mapping on uneven surfaces.

 

Bruker Optics’ patented grazing angle objective (GAO) also provides high quality viewing while breaking new ground in thin film sensitivity. ALL light rays are turned to the desired angle of incidence in contrast to previous techniques, which simply disgarded light at the wrong angles. The GAO also utilizes two reflections from the sample instead of one. The result is an increase in sensitivity in analyzing thin films many times that which was previously attainable!

 

Focal-plane-array (FPA) detectors can be added to the HYPERION (in addition to the traditional single element detector) to provide microscopic imaging capabilities. The FPA is portable allowing user switching of the FPA to the macrochamber for macroimaging.

 

Upgradeable

The HYPERION Series is a fully upgradeable microscope platform for conducting state-of-the-art optical and infrared analysis. The HYPERION 2000 includes all features found on the 1000 as does the 3000 with respect to the 2000.

 

  • HYPERION 1000 : High performance infrared microscope with transmission and reflection capabilities and binocular viewing
  • HYPERION 2000 : Fully automated microscope with video viewing (stage, focus, aperture)
  • HYPERION 3000 : Integrated focal-plane-array and single element detector based system

 

Automation and Mapping

The HYPERION incorporates full push button and software control of microscope features to provide you with the flexibility and ease-of-use you need. Selection of transmission/reflection and viewing/infrared as well as initiation of data collection can be accessed on the microscope front panel or in the software. The aperture can be controlled manually or optionally through the software. The motorized stage can be used to position your sample manually with the joystick or through the software by pointing and clicking. Sample mapping and autofocus are available to make the collection of data on more efficient. Discrete point, line, and arrayed maps are easily defined using the OPUS MAP software package.

 

Micro and Macro Chemical Imaging

Focal plane array based imaging is easily conducted on samples in just seconds! The HYPERION series is unique in that it can be upgraded from a base configuration tofull focal plane array based imaging. Chemical images can be collected using the HYPERION microscope or the companion macrochamber, IMAC. The high quality optics and hardware together with the integrated OPUS VIDEO, MAP and 3D software packages provide unmatched system performance for the acquisition, evaluation and presentation of multidimensional data. Factor analysis and functional group profiling are just a couple of the many manipulation and evaluation tools available for working up your imaging results easily and accurately.
